Hi, I’m Samantha
I’m the ceramic artist behind Samantha L Pottery, based in Burlington, Ontario.
I’ve been working with clay for about 10 years, and over that time it has become an important creative outlet for me. One of the things I love most about pottery is that there is always something new to explore.
My work includes functional mugs, bowls and serving pieces, botanical designs, ceramic jewelry and small keepsakes. I enjoy trying new ideas and techniques and seeing where they lead.
My inspiration is the world around me. The colors and shapes found in nature – stone, flowers, leaves, water and their organic forms often find their way into my work, sometimes quite literally and sometimes more subtly. I like creating pieces that are useful, but that also have a little personality.
Sharing my love of clay through hand-building classes has become a new passion as well. The classes are relaxed, creative and hands-on as I guide everyone through the project while leaving plenty of room to make it their own. One of my favorite parts is seeing how differently each person interprets the same idea.
Creating something personal for someone else, whether it’s a favorite mug used every morning, a serving bowl brought out when friends come over, a piece jewelry, or a wedding keepsake, I hope it feels special because of the care and individuality that went into making it.
